About this Piece
Fat Lava is a specific style of midcentury pottery (specifically West German) that features thick, heavy, bubbly glazes. They were mainly (but not exclusively) made with this brilliant red-orange color with bubbly black accents. I’ve been trying to get the feel of this unique pottery figured out in polymer clay. I think I have the bubbly lava now, but I’m not happy with the way that I swirled the glaze too much. It’s also too glossy. Hmm. A work in progress!
