About this Piece
I really had no idea what I was going to do until I sat down at my work table, and then this just happened. I knew that I wanted to do some sort of piecework with thin sheets of clay. I thought I’d use stencils, but in the end I didn’t. I drew the simplified design freehand (much like a quilt), cut out the pieces of paper, and used them as a template to cut the pieces of clay.
I’ve long been in love with the color combinations of purples, greens, and oranges (no idea why), and I never can seem to get the combination to match what is in my head. But this comes close.
