Most polymer clay brands have a few metallic or pearlescent colors, making little distinction between the two.

But Cernit has both a Metallic line of clay and a Pearl line of clay. 

To make matters worse, they have some of the same colors in both lines. 

So what’s the difference?

Cernit Metallic uses a “regular” size mica flake that gives a “normal” type of metallic or pearlescent shimmer. (But they use synthetic mica, so it’s much more intense than other brands.)

But Cernit Pearl uses a super sized and super sparkly mica particle that is visibly a bit “over the top” with sparkly shimmer. It’s not glitter, though. And there’s no other brand of clay that has the same type of sparkly effect.
