About Me

Hi, I'm Ginger Davis Allman.

The Blue Bottle Tree is for polymer clay artists, hobbyists, and makers. If you want to understand this material and not just follow a recipe, you’re in the right place.

I’ve been working with polymer clay since 2001 and writing about it here since 2012. I have a background in science (micro and molecular biology), and that gave me the skills to understand the materials and test the processes we use to make our art. But what drives it all is curiosity. I want to know what happens when you try something, and I want you to know too. I do all the testing and experimenting, take all the photos, and write every article myself in my home studio.

About the name

Years ago, when my kids were little and I had no time or space or energy to create anything, I built a blue bottle tree in my backyard. It reminded me that my creative self would get its turn. When it finally did, I named this place after it. If you’re making room for your own creativity now, you’re in good company.

Happy Claying!
